Introducing our chosen charity for 2023: Faith in Families 15 May 2023

A Swansea and Brecon-based charity aiming to build brighter futures for children in the area, Faith in Families provides support services for children, young people and their families — and we couldn’t be happier to have selected the organisation as our chosen charity for 2023.

To date we’ve raised over £10k in charitable donations, and we’re confident the team will get behind all efforts to raise much-needed funds for Faith in Families over the course of 2023. Read on to find out more about the partnership.

Who are Faith in Families?

Founded in 1999, Faith in Families runs four Family Centres – known as ‘community cwtches’ – in Bonymaen, Clase, Portmead and Brecon. Staffed by nursery nurses, support workers, wellbeing practitioners and childcare professionals, each of the community cwtches welcome families to access childcare support, help with meals, therapeutic services, as well as fun events to help young children to grow and develop.

Alongside these family centres, the charity also provides 1-2-1 interventions for children who benefit from extra support and guidance with anything from managing their emotions, anxiety, and speech and language development.

What’s more, Faith in Families runs their ‘Inspiring Futures’ project; supporting women and girls aged 16-24 and 25+, the scheme offers help with work experience, volunteering, and training courses to boost employability.

Overall, Faith in Families wants to inspire children and young people to raise their aspirations and help them succeed.

Why support Faith in Families?

Approximately 13,500 children are currently living in poverty in Swansea — through their work in the community, Faith in Families provides a safe space for many children and their parents, guardians or carers.

Not only does the charity help families to learn more about how to support their children’s growth, it also invites them to meet others and make friends in a fun, welcoming environment.

How will we support the charity?

At Facility Services Group, we are now getting our heads together to think of ideas for fundraising activities, events, and more ways we can offer support for the wonderful staff, volunteers and service users at Faith in Families.

Through our efforts, we hope to make a difference for families in the local area.
